I fucking hate the obsession with moral purity on this fucking website.
Literally no one is allowed to make a mistake on this fucking hellsite without 20 different fucking callout posts calling them “problematic” in some way shape or form. It’s gotten to the point where problematic basically means “they said something I dont agree with so everyone bombard them with hate.” Let people make missteps. Let people make mistakes. Because it is through these mistakes that we improve as people. We do not improve by being fucking scared about everything we post, lest we be deemed “problematic.” Please, let people fuck up, let shows fuck up, let people have differing opinions (this does not include any bigoted “opinions” like “black people should be enslaved.”) Because if we can’t do that, then we’ve all failed at being progressive.
Just about every joke in Avatar: The Last Airbender is peak comedy but conceptually my favorite moment is that scene in The Waterbending Scroll where Zuko’s crew was fighting some pirates and Aang was lost in the middle of a smoke cloud.
Now, Aang being an Airbender, the logical thing to do would be to blow the smoke away, which he does.
This would be funny enough in and of itself, but what really gets me is that Aang just nopes his way out of the situation by… Calling the smoke back?
Like on top of this being the literal only instance of an aerokinetic character blowing smoke away in reverse (not the same thing as kicking up a cloud of dust) just… everyone who was fighting just goes back to fighting each other like that didn’t just happen? Like they didn’t just see the Avatar- who they’re fighting over- is no longer tied up?
This five seconds of animation is just the most beautifully hilarious mess.
Y’know I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation. Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.
Last time I reblogged the money cat, I won two $100 gift cards at work.
merfolks vary in sizes, it really depends on the species. coastal and tropical are probably the closest to human sized while lake merfolk are slightly smaller.
open ocean and deep sea merfolks vary from teeny tiny to ‘holy fuck their eye is the size of my fucking car’ it’s rumored those are the ancient ones
swamp merfolk can grow quiet large, like im talking 15+ feet and unlike their ocean and lake cousins they are primarily reptilian like. i wouldn’t fuck with swamp mermaids yo, if hungry enough they are known to eat humans and bc of their reptilian nature they ain’t afraid to chase your ass on land. there is a reason why they are apex predators. if you ever encounter one and they are hungry you might as well kiss your ass goodbye cuz they gonna get you
america is so transparently, almost comically evil but also just a bad country in terms of, like, being a decent place to live, have a job, raise kids. it’s not good at all
anyway no american liberal is ever going to have the old mitchell and webb ‘are we the baddies?’ moment of clarity and the more america’s towering murder apparatus loses its obama-era veneer of civilisation the more they will in fact sink into a spiral of denial and delusion until they lose touch with reality entirely and are condemned to wander about in what amounts to a mass paranoid hallucination hosted by twitter
this pretty much sums up the american liberal world view, don’t like america? what about [ENEMIES] which are [MUCH WORSE] because [REASON AMERICA IS MORE OR LESS RESPONSIBLE FOR]. there are many, many places that are better places to live than the united states, russia and many middle eastern nations are not amongst them, primarily thanks to the united states’ political machinations. this is what the post is about, the ‘are we the baddies?’ moment.
as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.
